 The new year a time for new beginnings, whether you are starting something new or renewing an old resolution. It’s also the time of year to come and have your first shrine visit, the Hatsumōde 初詣 as it is called to make your New Year’s wishes and pick your omikuji おみくじ to see what kind of luck you will have for the New Year. If it’s bad luck, make sure to tie it to a tree in hopes that it will never come true. ----- For this promo you must write a post of your character going to a shrine and making his/her wishes for the New Year. You must also pick two numbers, one from the first set of numbers and one from the second set of numbers. If a number is BOLDED it means that it has already been chosen and thus cannot be chosen again. What is under then number, you will find out soon enough! Also make sure to check recent posts since the last time an admin has awarded prizes so you don’t choose those either. Make an OOC note stating the numbers you choose and which group the number is from. Also, your post cannot go over 200 WORDS you go over the max, you may auto get bad luck. THE NEW YEAR Nick made his way to the Hatsumōde, ready to bring his New Year in on a good note. The trainer looked the sky and thought about his past year, he made some good friends and lost some. "This year I hope to find balance. I look to release my grief and blaze to the Elite Four." He said to himself as he looked at the papers before him. He would draw to and begin to flip them over to see his results!

Kenta moved towards the shrine with the help of Leilani who lead him with vines that came from her bulb. Conor walked ahead of him and when he made it to the Shrine made sure the area was clear so he could make his wish. "Great Shrine... I come to you asking for help... I am blind and I don't want to burden my Pok?mon to move at my pace. I come asking you for something I can ride, to allow me to move fast through the routes and not put my family in danger from moving so slowly."
He said. He had seen the danger that had come from him moving so slowly through the route one. It had caused his team to be eyed by a zigzagoon, whom was now part of his team. He didn't want that to happen again.

 As soon as she'd learned of the custom of visiting a shrine for the new year, Hanami had sprinted off to go participate. She'd never even been to a shrine before, and she had to stop before approaching to quickly readjust her hat. Had to look presentable!
Oh, the shrine looked so beautiful. Hanami almost forgot why she'd come here, though it quickly came back to her that she was here for her first ever Hatsumōde. Never being allowed to leave the house sure had made her miss out on a lot...
It took her a minute to think of wishes for the new year. Hopefully, this new year will be full of new friends and surprises, she mentally decided on before drawing two slips of paper from the offered boxes, a small smile on her face. One number reminded her of life, the universe, and everything. The other reminded her of a friend she couldn't quite place. Good numbers, either way. She just hoped the results would match.

Cheryl had never had the chance to take part in the custom of visiting the shrine on new years before, but then again she'd never been near a shrine to take part even if she had wanted to do so. She smiled as she walked toward the boxes that where the center of the events that day. Closing her eyes she made her wish, her lips moving without a sound in sync with her inner thoughts "I wish that this year will be a most exciting one, one where I meet many new friends" It was a simple wish, but one that she sincerely hoped for as she reached into the boxes one at a time and picked one ticket out from each. She grinned as she saw the sevens grinning up at her - people often told her that seven was a lucky number, and thus she took it as a sign that this year would indeed be a good one.

Licorice never did this Hatsumōde thing before and had absolutely no idea what she had to do. She saw a few people taking small slips of paper from a booth and wishing for stuff. She tried to copy their actions, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. "I wish I can gather many powerful Pok?mon and destroy every opponent I encounter." After she was done wishing, she opened her eyes and took two thin pieces of paper.

Esther walked up to the Hatsumode with a New Year's resolution already in mind. She was a trainer and her goals in Aethra was set. Now was the time to figuratively put them in stone. "For the coming year, I'm going to train my Pok?mon to their fullest and earn my badges so that I may challenge the Elite Four. That will bring honor to my family name and will give my parents a daughter they can be proud of." She looked at the pieces of paper with numbers written on them and selected two based on her own superstitions concerning lucky and unlucky numbers. Making the decision was the hardest part. Finally, she flipped over two pieces of paper to see what her luck was for the year.

It was the new year at last and Marlaey was excited to be bringing it in with her Pok?mon in this new region. She had organised a picnic for them later on in the park to celebrate, but first she had to visit the Shrine. Stepping carefully around the crowds of people, she moved closer to the Shrine and smiled. Taking in a deep breath she closed her eyes and let last years memories wash over her. She stood there for a few moments, reliving the past before she opened her eyes again, ready to face the future.
Beaming at the sky and the Shrine and everyone around her, Marlaey turned to find the stall where she could choose her Luck fo the year. Her only silent wish was for her Pok?mon to grow stronger and more confident in themselves with each passing day. Tapping a finger against her lip she scanned all the numbers, at last choosing one she hoped would be good. Pointing it out, she looked up at the vender, wondering what it would say.
Regradless of the outcome, she knew that this year would be a wonderful year for her and her Pok?mon! Bring it on!

Jamie was quite unfamiliar with this kind of new year's celebration. It really piqued her curiosity, so she figured she would give it a shot. Probably a bad idea to diss another region's culture and custom by not doing it. She walked up to the shrine, looking upon the crowd that visited and the tree with the many pieces of paper on it.
Even though she was sure this was mere superstition, she could not help but feel some nervousness about her journey. Silently as she filled out the paper, she wished for good fortune.

Tillia shook her head in dismay as she stood before the shrine. She’d watched people come and go for much of the day, picking up bits of paper with numbers written onto them. Honestly, people would buy anything these days, it seemed. The celebration of mediocrity, it seemed, was a universal trait amongst humankind. This particular celebration was bizarre…maybe the high altitudes had finally fucked up these people’s brains. That, or generations of in-breeding. Bit hard to tell, really.
