Umbra, the Harbinger of Chaos and Destruction; the self-proclaimed GodKing of Demons… As old existence itself, a most profane and malevolent entity, he is the immortal manifestation of the infinite darkness and chaos of the cosmos, of rage and malice. He would not, nor could not, stop destroying… Traveling the cosmos, he annihilated world after world, stamping out countless lives and civilizations one by one.
And then he reached Syrunn.
And an unexpected opponent emerged to stand against the GodKing of Demons – Syrunn’s own celestial guardian – the dragon Rythos. War raged, tearing the fabric of land and sea, warping realities and casting a taint upon the world. Civilisations emerged, fell, and rose once more in the wake of cosmic battle, but in the end Rythos seemed destined for failure, finally buckling beneath the monster of chaos. Nothing could stand in Umbra’s way.
Or so it would seem.
From the ashes of Rythos’s defeat rose a legendary warrior whose name has since faded into obscurity, lost in the sands of time. The warrior, known only through myth and song, banished Umbra into Oblivion where he now resides, writhing, seething… and waiting.
That was nearly 2,000 years ago.
Syrunn has since flourished. Cities have risen in place of ruins, adventurers run rampant and a hero can emerge from even the humblest of origins. A world rich in sorcery and ruled by fortune, Syrunn is host to every sort - from rags to riches, from thieves and cut-throats to monarchs and everything in between, anything is possible.
But all is not well. The Cult of Umbra lingers, a stain on Syrunn; a solemn reminder of the Harbringer of Chaos and Destruction.. And, if left to their own devices, Umbra may claw his way back into the world once more...
