Okay so I know I've talked about version 5 of proboards before and there's a few things that have been making quite angry.
all of our templates will be breaking and the designing of the site and all the codes for even just alignment of a post is changing. They aren't including a lot of the coding features a lot of us currently use. For those that know templates, that means our beautiful hover codes. Our float codes, and scrollers within our posts.
The money system is really screwy and none of the header and footer codes are going to work. We have to hope that those who can do that kind of coding will make a plug-in for it. And honestly I don't have that kind of capability.
Jcink has a lot to offer. For those that have been on Invisionfree it's a lot like Invisionfree, but as a lot of added on features. Their money system is also a lot better and you can bank your own money and gain interest from it as it sits in the bank.
For templates it's straight html within [dohtml][/dohtml] tags and it's similar to the coding we are using now and much more simpler. And a lot of other features we use are simplilar to and the Pokémon sprites I can put into the smiley system for you to even look up.
there's a lot more too that Jcink has to offer and I can't exactly name everything. One other thing is if I delete a board on accident it moves the threads rather than just deletes all of them. It's a lot better in that sense.
Also if we do this transition, no you will not start over. You will bring your PCs as how they are, you will still have the same amount of money, gc coins, whatever. You will still have everything for your character and will not loose anything.
And for those that have threads going, you can just continue them on the new jcink. All you would have to do is link back to the thread on this board and then continue on in a new thread.
So vote in the poll and also post your comments here. Please post your thoughts. Nothing is set in stone, nothing will be until we know how you, the members, feel about this idea.

I have never used Jcink so I am not really sure about it. Ergo, I shall be voting no but I am open to try it. I love the community here <3

I've used Jcink in the past and I loved it. It was a HUGE step up from IF and it's easy to use. I voted yes, cause as much as I love proboards, V5 is just gonna mess things up. :I

I've always been comfortable with jcink and the HTML coding is really easy to work with. and like you said, it's essentially a prettier, more functional invisionfree with some extra cool features. I'm up for it.

I don't feel we should unless we are absolutely are forced to. Most people aren't here because the site is here, were here because who runs and RP'd the place. I don't see that changing because of location, but the kinks are barely worked out over here...

I'm not at all familiar with Jcink, so I'm hesitant to change. However it's not something I'd leave the site over. If it will be better for the site in the long run I'm okay with it. I can imagine it'll be a pain to try to html-ize everything, but then I remember the staff would have a hell of a lot more to do xD so I'd stop whining.

It depends really. You don't have to upgrade to v5 if you don't want to, I wouldn't personally. I've never used Jcink before, but option 3 is a little bit harsh. I won't leave the site, I just don't support the change.
But if you were going to update to v5, then I suggest go Jcink. Cause v5 just ruins everything.

I'll follow you guys wherever we go~
But anyways, this is my opinion. I've never used jcink before, but I have seen sites that are jcink. Invisionfree I have used. Unfortunately, the invisionfree site I was on didn't allow coding for templates. On invisionfree, I learned a little trick that allows a quick change between bbcode and invisionfree. If I learn some html, I could help with the change in codes; but idk. Depends on what I understand.
I don't really care where we go, but I kind of like proboards best. But that's just me being biased, since proboards coding was the first coding I learned. Um...I guess we could give jcink a try. just one request; don't make a dark skin.

Zyn for v5 it's optional until April. After April, you don't have the option.

Vallen, after April we will be forced to convert to v5 which will cause far more kinks than what we are already are in the process of working out.

Personally, I have never used Jcink. In fact, I have never even heard of it. What I do know, however, is that HTML is one of my worst enemies... If we must migrate though, I will do so willingly, and I will make an effort to learn how to use it. Personally, I would prefer to stay on proboards, but I'd follow if we must move.

I actually don't see a reason why moving to Jcink would be an issue.
Right now proboards is going through a change that may or may not benefit the site. You also just lost a large majority of the sites roleplay posts, so now is literally the perfect time to move.
Even if things don't work out over there, whether its due to code failing, people just disliking it etc, it's not as though you can't move back to this site again in the future. I think it'd be a missed opportunity not to at least give Jcink a try.
though i've been pretty inactive lately so my vote counts for less than it could

Well, like a lot of people, I've never used Jcink either - I hadn't even heard of it until it was brought up, actually - so I'm not entirely sure about it, but to be honest it doesn't matter to me either way; I'd move onto the new forum and carry on there without any complaints...asides from the occasional complaint that HTML is a serious bitch. I would say you're obviously considering it for a reason, so I'd trust your judgement that those reasons are good enough. As long as I can keep my butterfly, I'm happy~ /shallow
What I would also say is that if this is going to be done, it needs to be done ASAP, i.e. within the next few days.

Time to add in my two cents. I've used Jcink before and while HTML can be annoying to work with, I can adapt. I don't have any doubts that Proboards V5 will mess up the site's coding particularly if the changes sound as drastic as everyone says. Jcink, in many ways, looks nicer than Proboards and has the advantage of being better overall than the popular Invisionfree despite very similar coding. I think that if the decision is made to switch over the Jcink as seems to be the popular opinion, sooner is better than later. This site has been too addictive and enjoyable for me to give up easily and if we do move to Jcink, I will be following along like a good little duckling.

I personally don't mind either way where we are at. I enjoy this site too much to let some problems with coding be a reason for me to leave. But I do agree that decision should be made soon...so that no one starts getting too comfortable, only to have to suddenly start the transition to a new site. I've had to do this for some sites I used to work with as well and speaking from experience...with the change upcoming here soon and the recent accident with Route 1, now seems to be the perfect time to start moving.
