It was just announced today and there's already pages of artwork on DeviantArt. People are fast, but what are your thoughts on the new Generation starters? The game?

I think its a serious step up for the series. The graphics look nice, the choice of cel-shading i think was a smart idea, and the battling now looks like actual battling. Though they will need to do more than make it look nice for it to be the massive success they're hyping it out to be, I think. I'm most curious to see what sort of new Pok?mon will be added. Game Freak, while creative, is beginning to run out of things to turn into Pok?mon that will be easily recognizable or intriguing to both veteran and new players. Consistently, from Kanto to Sinnoh, they're were few Pok?mon that I didn't find interesting or useful in some way. But when Unova hit, despite enjoying nearly anything else...I found myself only having an interest in a handful of the new Pok?mon...finding some of them to be rather bland or relying on some gimmick or quirk to be interesting, which can be entertaining in its own right, but shouldn't be the basis for so many of them, in my opinion. A bigger focus on interacting with other players I think would be good as well...not just faceless trading and battling. Overall, the project looks promising, but I do hope they take a lot of things into consideration before releasing it.
On a more personal level, with the new game coming out, maybe we'll finally see a Dark-type Gym...maybe...*fingers crossed*

They should go back to their roots and build Pok?mon out of dinosaurs and ancient creatures. They need to go back to how Gen 1 Pok?mon were inspired.

Don't get me wrong, they're still plenty of things to be made into Pok?mon. But they have to be intuitive about it...give them the flair that Gen I and II had...easily recognizable but still very cool and effective. Not only that, but I think an overhaul on the whole "journey" aspect needs to be rethought. Spin-off and side games excluded, each main series game has always been the same thing essentially: you get a rare starter Pok?mon, you go and defeat the gym leaders while simultaneously fighting rivals and the local bad guy group, ultimately reaching the Elite Four and rising to the rank of Champion. This journey for Gen VI, in my opinion...needs something new, something fresh...otherwise its just gonna feel like the same game with a new look.

I'm incredibly pleased with what they've revealed so far. I love the designs, and that trailer man!
I'm always happy with the Pokémon Games though. I was absolutely thrilled when Black and White came out, and I really hope they surprise us again with Gen VI. From what I heard, Gen VI has a France thing going on and the games are called X and Y because of the 3DS. X and Y coordinates and all of that stuff.
I think it's a relief that they aren't doing the color trend for these games too. I want them to break out and explore. I want them to be daring.
lovelovelove. ALL ADORBS Yeah I'm happy
I don't have a 3DS though and I don't think I can buy one anytime soon so this is a problem. We have until October right?

Adding to my earlier comment, I think it would be much better if there were alternative endings. I'd LOVE to be able to play a Pok?mon game where you have the option to become evil and join the usual in-game enemy (Team Rocket, Team Plasma, Team Snagem) etc. It would be fun if you could work your way up through Team Rocket and eventually become its leader.
That, and things like in Black&White 2 where you could actually speak (to some extent) or choose options for what your character could say, like
(Professor Oak) "X? I never thought I'd hear from you so soon."
(Player) "Well I figured I'd call in and see how you were doing. Listen, I need a favour..."
(Oak) "Oh? Doesn't sound like you're calling in to find out how I am if you're asking me for something. What can I help you with?"
(Player)
> "I need you to send me my [Pok?mon]. It's urgent." "Do you know where [rival] is?" "...actually, never mind. It's cool, I got it."

Personally, I adore Froakie - but I see how everyone else seems to love Fennekin. Anyway. I am both excited and not excited for this, I am disappointed that it is going to be on the 3DS. Since I am assuming that this means owners of non-3DSs will be left in the dust. Unless they come out with a version for just the normal DS, for the sake of the people who cant afford a 3DS upon release.
Though, I don't think they will. The 3DS is the newest thing - blah blah and sooner or later post of the people will replace their old DSs with the 3DS.
Anyway. That is beside the point.
I don't know how I like the characters being in 3D and the landscape being in 3D. It's exciting but it is so foreign in Pokémon games, much like the lack of a color in its name - although, yes, they are running out of colors so I understand. But the 3D look to everything... is so odd.
I like it, but I don't. I guess I will have to really get the full effect, when the game comes up.
Eh. I don't know. I liked the mix of 3D in the past Pokémon games, so I guess I will have to see how it all looks when it is nothing but 3D.

You. You. I just said this the other day to some of my friends. You are an amazing person. Yes.
